The prosecutor demanded that a veteran of the Crimean Tatar movement be sentenced to 10 months of restriction of freedom

During the debate, the prosecutor demanded that Crimean Tatar activist Ilver Ametov be sentenced to 10 months of restriction of freedom. This is reported by the publication "Krym.Realii".

Ametov is accused of illegal possession of weapons (part 1 of article 222 of the Criminal Code). The prosecutor said that the guilt of the Crimean Tatar "has been fully proven."

The court denied the defense's motion to exclude some of the documents due to numerous procedural violations, and also refused to conduct a re-examination of the seized weapons.

The defense asked the court to acquit Ametov, since the activist kept the weapon without criminal intent and showed it in his museum.

The verdict is scheduled for August 5.

• On September 27, 2019, the head of the Sudak Regional Mejlis and a veteran of the Crimean Tatar movement, Ilver Ametov, was searched, during which an old weapon was seized from Ametov’s private historical museum: a Nagant revolver, a Schmeiser submachine gun and two guns. He had documents for the storage of exhibits. The search was carried out with a check in a criminal case under articles 238 of the Criminal Code (circulation of goods and services that do not meet security requirements), 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activity) and 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity).
