A Bashkir activist accused of calling for extremism was left in pre-trial detention until October 14

The Kirovsky District Court adjourned the hearing in the case of the activist of the Bashkir national movement Ramili Saitova. This is written by the telegram channel “Case for kurai - KushTau”.

The girl is charged under the article on public calls for extremism on the Internet (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code). The meeting was postponed to August 18 due to the absence of the witness. The court also extended Saitova's detention in the pre-trial detention center for two months, until October 14.

The case against the activist was initiated due to statements in some videos on her YouTube channel. The joint press service of the courts of Bashkortostan reported that Saitova was sent to a pre-trial detention center due to "repeated prosecution for extremist offenses."

A few days before the arrest, on November 3, 2020, the activist posted a video announcing the Bashkir people's assembly. On the agenda of the event, she included questions about "the demolition of all [Orthodox] crosses in the Urals" and "an ultimatum to Armenians" living in Bashkortostan.

• On her personal page on VKontakte, Ramilya Saitova calls herself the chairman of the People of Bashkortostan for Fair Elections movement, a member of the presidium of the Congress of the Bashkir People, and the secretary of the Council of Bashkir Elders. In the summer of 2019, Saitova was nominated in the elections for the head of Bashkortostan.
• In September 2020, the activist was sentenced to 10 days of arrest because of the video “How do we have so many Armenians?”, In February 2020, she was arrested for 5 days for non-payment of a fine due to police detention during the observation of the September elections. In December 2019, the activist was fined 20,000 rubles for publishing a video message in which she called for an unapproved rally in defense of nature.
• At the end of January, Saitova's car was stopped by traffic police officers, allegedly because they had an orientation towards her. After refusing to get out of the car, the traffic police officer knocked out the side window and dragged Saitova out by force. As a result, a report on disobedience to a policeman was drawn up against her (Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
