The Cohen brothers won the four Oscars together - but it seems that the duet broke up

Their friend says that Ethan is tired of the cinema, and the first solo movie Joel is released in the fall

Carter Beruell, a constant composer of the films of Itan and Joel Cohen, as well as their close friend - at the end of July told Score to the SCORE that the directorial duet, perhaps, would no longer make films together.

Beruell emphasized: "Ethan simply does not want to make a movie anymore." According to him, the duet still has many scenarios that they wrote together, but did not film. “I hope they will come back to them someday. I read some of them and they are wonderful. But we all approached the age when, I don’t know ... We could all retire , ”he said.

At the same time, Joel Cohen has already shot the first solo picture. It became Macbeth - he will be released in the cinema this fall. The main roles in it were played by Denzel Washington and Francis McDormand (actress married to Joel Cohen). So far, only one frame from a black and white film is available to the public.

Macbete became known in 2019. And even then it was announced that Joel Cohen would remove him without the participation of his brother. In the same year, Ethan Cohen told reporters that he was going to take a break from the cinema-then he worked on the play “A Play is a Poem” (Theatrical productions of Cohen's plays have been released since 2008).

Thus, the words of Baruell are not the first evidence of the possible collapse of the duet. However, some American publications found its formulation indirect confirmation that the break of Itan in the cinema may drag on. The Cohen brothers themselves did not comment on the interview of Beruella.

At the moment, the last film, shot by the Cohen brothers together, remains the Bastera Skreggs Ballad (2018), released on Netflix and received three nominations for the Oscar. The brothers have been working together since 1984. They have four Oscars - one for the Fargo script (1997) and three more (the best film, directing and script) for the painting “The Old Men is NO PURTH” (2008). In total, seven of their paintings received the nominations for Oscar.
