A court in St. Petersburg sentenced a defendant in the “palace case” to four and a half years in prison

The Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg sentenced Nikolai the Ninth to four and a half years in a penal colony, accused of using violence against a government official (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code) during protests on January 23 in support of Alexei Navalny. This was reported by the press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.

According to investigators, during a rally in support of Alexei Navalny on January 23, Devyaty attacked a traffic police officer and hit another policeman while trying to escape. The accused was detained the next day after the action and sent to a pre-trial detention center. The man pleaded guilty.

The court exacted from the Ninth 150,000 rubles each in compensation for non-pecuniary damage to two law enforcement officers injured in the case. The security forces demanded to recover 200 thousand rubles in compensation from the Ninth. They talked about the "physical and moral suffering" that allegedly occurred after the attack of the Ninth.
