In Belgorod, a jury acquitted a nurse who was accused of murdering her husband. She cared for him for 20 years after his stroke

The jury at a hearing in the Belgorod Regional Court unanimously delivered a verdict of not guilty in the case of a woman who was accused of killing her paralyzed husband. She is acquitted in the absence of a crime event.

According to investigators, the woman strangled her husband in November 2019. At that time, she was 59 years old, and her husband, according to Komsomolskaya Pravda, was 76 years old. The Investigative Committee and the court did not disclose their names.

The woman worked as a nurse and constantly cared for her husband, who suffered a stroke more than 20 years ago, as a result of which he was paralyzed on the left side of his body. In November 2019, his condition worsened: according to a message on the court’s website, he could not move and eat on his own, and also “became irritable and took out his anger on his wife.”

The UK reported that the woman "strangled her husband, who was lying on the couch, who was in a helpless state." She was charged under the article “murder of a person who is known to be in a helpless state” (paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the punishment is from eight years in prison to life in prison).
