In the past, the works of Nabokov and Solzhenitsyn were included in the Literature of the mid-1950s-early 1990s program. Their books were offered to be studied in the section devoted to dissident literature. In the program approved in 2017 and in force in 2020, in addition to Nabokov and Solzhenitsyn, Viktor Nekrasov was mentioned in this section, in the 2021 program only Nekrasov was mentioned.

The previous program assumed that the study of Solzhenitsyn's story "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" was allotted three class hours, and the list of books for additional reading included Solzhenitsyn's story "Matrenin Dvor".
