In St. Petersburg, the person involved in the “palace case” had his preventive measure extended

The Leninsky District Court of St. Petersburg extended the period of detention of the defendant in the “palace case” Ivan Punegov until January 29. Lawyer Sergei Podolsky reported this information to OVD-Info.

Punegov is in the Kresty pre-trial detention center - he is accused of using violence against a government official (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code) during the April 21 protests in support of Alexei Navalny. The investigation believes that at the protest the man “grabbed and squeezed the neck” of a policeman with both hands. Friends of the person involved in the case claim that Punegov was simply trying to free the girl who was captured by the security forces.

The period until which the guard was extended has been corrected.

• Ivan Punegov is a native of the Komi Republic, and has worked as a truck driver in St. Petersburg for the last five years. The fact that he was taken into custody became known in early May.
