In Izhevsk, the court refused to unblock the accounts of the ex-coordinator of Navalny's headquarters

The Supreme Court of Udmurtia refused to allow the former coordinator of Navalny’s Izhevsk headquarters, Ivan Eliseev, to unblock his bank accounts. Eliseev himself reported this to OVD-Info.

The accounts were arrested on July 20 in connection with the investigation into the case of actions threatening the safe operation of vehicles (Article 267.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), at the Izhevsk rally in support of Alexei Navalny on January 23. The investigator justified his petition by the fact that “citizen Eliseev <...> on the Internet disseminates information about actions that may contain signs of terrorist activity. At the same time, Eliseev I.A. asks citizens to transfer funds to bank accounts.” Based on this, the investigation considered that the money was obtained by the activist through criminal means.

The investigation asked the Industrial District Court of Izhevsk to arrest Eliseev’s accounts on February 4, but then the request was denied. However, on April 13, the Supreme Court of Udmurtia overturned this decision and sent the case for a new trial. On the second attempt the accounts were blocked.

At the same time, Ivan Eliseev was not charged in a criminal case for obstructing transport. Also, OVD-Info currently does not know anything about whether anyone has been brought in as an accused or suspect in this case.
