On August 11, the exhibition "Personal?" Opened at the center of creative industries "Factory" artists and activists of Julia Tsvetkova, who threatens up to six years in prison

Julia Tsvetkova turned out to be one of the symbols of a new generation conflict with moral guards. Actually, they judge Julia for her drawings and public in social networks “Vagina's monologues”. The police call an educational project of an artist dedicated to the female body, pornography, claiming that body -positive images with signatures like “living women have fat, and this is normal!” violate the law.

The exhibition is organized to support the artist. Renata Litvinova, Lyudmila Petrushevskaya, Vladimir Pozner, Ksenia Sobchak and Yves Ensler, author of the famous play “Monologists of the Vagina”, who gave the name to Pablik Tsvetkova, have already performed in her defense. The petition in support of the artist collected about 300 thousand signatures.

In the exposition, among other works, you can see the current series of the drawings “Woman NOT a Doll”, some of which in 2020 acquired a SEledel-Museum in Amsterdam.

“I do not see anything that can prevent it from showing it. It’s just to demonstrate it in our walls interesting and appropriate, it reflects the spirit of the time, ”says Asya Filippova, director of TsTi Factory.

The exposition is built as a visual diary, as a direct statement by the artist, including children's drawings, graphic works of 2015–2019, a black and white “prison cycle”, created daily in the past six months. The author explores the shaky and sometimes painful boundaries of personal space, trying to expand them. On one of the pictures, a strict functionary/prosecutor/investigator pokes a finger at the face of a young family with an angry question "Is there a personality?" And in response to their oncoming amazement continues: "And if I find?"

Today, personal space, including the artist’s space, is canceled, carefully checked for compliance with the moral code prescribed by law enforcement agencies.

The art community with tension monitors the absurd process, which is trying to prove that images of parts of the human body on the educational drawings of Julia Tsvetkova are pornography.
