He traveled a lot, spent almost three years in Cuba - and he was even a translator during the filming of the film “I - Cuba” by Mikhail Kalatozov in 1962 during the Caribbean crisis.
The autobiographical part of the series covers the period from the 1930s to perestroika, the part dedicated to translations from the Spanish language tells about Gongora, Lorca, Neruda, Guillen and what principles formed the basis of Grushko’s translation work. New issues will be released once every two weeks.
The audioSrian was recorded during the pandemic. For six months Grushko spoke about his life to Arzamas editors Philip Dzyadko and Natalya Falikova. Grushko lives in Boston.
“This is a series of nine decades in the life of one person, an autobiography of a poet who remembers Voronkia of the 1930s and hunger in evacuation, as well as the air of the thaw and Cuba during the Caribbean crisis. This is a way to find out about the 20th century “first -hand”, to imbue the spirit of time. We advise you to listen to this story on a quiet walk, on a trip, at home affairs, and best of all - before going to bed, ”the authors of the project say.
