The court imposed a year and a half of restriction of freedom on Navalny’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh in a “sanitary case”

The Preobrazhensky District Court of Moscow imposed a year and a half of restriction of freedom on Alexei Navalny’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh on a “sanitary case.” This was reported on the opposition's Twitter.

“Kira was sentenced to 1.5 years of restriction of freedom and house arrest was canceled until the sentence came into force,” the message says.

Yarmysh, like Navalny’s other associates, was found guilty of inciting violations of sanitary and epidemiological rules at the rally on January 23 (Part 4 of Article 33, Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code). The prosecutor's office demanded that she be sentenced to two years of restricted freedom.

According to investigators, before the January rally, oppositionists published calls on social networks to rally in support of Navalny, which is why several people infected with coronavirus broke quarantine and came to the center of Moscow.

Nine oppositionists are charged with this, some have already been sentenced. Thus, politicians Lyubov Sobol and Nikolai Lyaskin were given restrictions of freedom for a year and a half and a year, respectively. Navalny's brother Oleg Navalny received a year's probation. In mid-July, charges in this case were dropped against municipal deputy Konstantin Jankauskas.

Muscovite Dani Akel, who, according to investigators, violated quarantine to come to the rally, was fined 100 thousand rubles.
