Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a national plan to combat corruption for 2021-2024. The corresponding decree was published on the official legal information portal.

As part of the plan, Putin proposed, in particular:

improve the procedure for submitting declarations by civil servants;
prohibit those who have been fined for corruption crimes from serving in the civil service;
improve verification of information about digital assets of officials;
limit the ability of people with outstanding criminal records to manage state unitary enterprises and state municipalities ;
organize training for businessmen to minimize the risks of falling under anti-corruption laws in other countries;
engage in the creation of content on the Internet aimed at “popularizing anti-corruption standards” in society;
begin studying at universities under the program "Anti-corruption activities".

Putin gave the corresponding instructions to the government, the presidential administration and other relevant departments.

The anti-corruption plan was first approved by President Dmitry Medvedev in 2008 and has since been updated every two years. Since 2018, the plans have become three-year plans.
In the latest version of the annual Corruption Perceptions Index, Russia shares 129th place with Azerbaijan, Gabon, Malawi and Mali. Since 2018, Russia has moved up one place in this ranking.
