The representative of the President of Russia in the Far Eastern Federal District (Far Eastern Federal District), Yuri Trutnev, said that the media dramatize the situation with fires in Yakutia. He stated this on the air of the program "Vesti Primorye."

“The situation remains quite stressful, but I would like to share with you the observation that still the media love to somewhat drama to dramatize the situation,” Trutnev said.

As he specified, the media write that millions of hectares burned out.

“Someone calls four million there, someone is even more. [...] But let's start with the fact that the area of ​​Yakutia is more than 300 million hectares, ”Trutnev said.

He noted that a week ago there were 30 thousand hectares under the fire, and at the time of the meeting with the president - 6 thousand. By the morning of August 17, according to Trutnev, 4.6 thousand hectares burned. He emphasized that the fire area was reduced by five times.

In addition, Trutnev noted that the term “area passed by fire” basically means that we are talking about lower fires, when grass and small shrub plants are burning.

As reported on the website of the Avialeshokhny, by August 17, 169 fires were operated on the territory of the Russian Federation on an area of ​​1.5 million hectares. Of these, 1.4 million hectares fell on Yakutia.

According to Greenpeis, since the beginning of the year, more than 16 million hectares of forest have been passed in Russia. This is the second fire in Russia from the beginning of the XXI century (they were larger only in 2012, then 17 million hectares burned).

He was able to reach Yekaterinburg and Mountain Altai, in the Irkutsk region the smoke of more than 400 cities and villages covered with smoke. In settlements, the excess of the content of hazardous substances in the air is recorded.

According to August 11, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, more than 900 settlements are smoked due to forest fires in Yakutia.
