According to the Pop/OFF/ART gallery, the cause of death was complications after coronavirus infection.
Evgeny Eduardovich Gorokhovsky was born in 1951 in Odessa, in 1973 he graduated from the production faculty of the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio, and worked as a specialty in Novosibirsk.
The formation of the artist took place in the 1970s surrounded by representatives of unofficial art-Ilya Kabakov, Viktor Pivovarov, Erica Bulatov. At this time, his own style was formed at the junction of a photorealistic image and metaphysical, conceptually reflected content.
Evgeny Gorokhovsky was one of the representatives of domestic photorealism, who gave him a specific philosophical sound. The author of more than twenty personal, participant about a hundred group exhibitions.
The artist’s works are in the largest museum and private collections, including the Tretyakov Gallery, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Stuttgart (Germany), the Zimmerly Art Museum at the University of Ratgers (USA).
