RT journalist Ilya Vasyunin, who was detained during a picket against the recognition of the media as "foreign agents", was left overnight at the police station. The rest of the detainees were released, having drawn up a protocol under the article on violation of the rules for participation in a public event (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The punishment for it is a fine of 10 to 20 thousand rubles.
A protocol was drawn up against Vasyunin on the repeated violation of the rally legislation (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
The day before, single pickets of journalists were held near the FSB building against the assignment of the status of “foreign agents” to the media. 12 people were detained. Among them is The Bell special correspondent Yulia Starostina.
On August 20, the Ministry of Justice included the Dozhd TV channel and the Important Stories publication in the register of media-foreign agents. In addition to the media, individuals also joined the list, including journalists from Important Stories and Roman Anin, editor-in-chief of the publication.
