You have no, dear West, methods against Vladimir Putin

Last Monday, the IMF announced that from this day on the distribution of $ 650 billion between countries - holders of quotas of the largest international financial institution came into force. These quotas are calculated according to a rather complicated scheme. Not only the contribution to the IMF piggy bank is taken into account, but also a variety of internal factors: GDP dimensions, currency reserves, market state. Russia got a loaf of $ 17.5 billion from this weighty loaf. Considering that today the foreign exchange reserves of our country are almost 600 billion, this money does not seem too important for the Kremlin. However, this is not so.

Firstly, they do not need to be returned. In addition, Moscow has not seen any money from the IMF for more than twenty years, so the fact of receiving such a significant amount is pleasant. You can actually spend this money on anything. If you want to put it in reserves, if you want, you want loans, if you want to replenish your own budget. But more importantly, the recognition of the Russian IMF by a full member and partner.

Many experts have already expressed the opinion that there is nothing especially to be surprised here: they say, the IMF is not a political, but a purely financial organization. So it is so, but not quite. For example, three countries that also possess the IMF quotas have no money out of these 650 billion. Venezuela, Myanmar and Afghanistan remained overboard. And the reason for the IMF cited precisely what is the political - "uncertainty with the legitimacy of the current government."

At the same time, Belarus received already a whole billion. One must think that about the legitimacy of the dictator Lukashenko, the IMF experts had no doubt. Against the backdrop of non -recognition by the majority of civilized countries, the result of the latest presidential elections in this country such a solution looks, to put it mildly, strange. Especially when you take into account the scope and cruelty of the repressions that the Belarusian power brought down on the heads of its citizens over the past year. However, the IMF is calmly ignoring all these circumstances.

What can we say about Russia, which, against the backdrop of Belarus, presumably, is a stronghold of democracy in the eyes of the IMF. And the fact that the majority of the Donors of the IMF adhere to the diametrically opposite point of view, the financial institution does not care at all.

It seems to me that this whole story with the allocation of irrevocable funds (in fact it is about gratuitous financial assistance) is the best illustrates the thesis that today the Western world simply does not have tools for serious pressure on a powerful dictatorial regime, which, without a doubt, is Russia. And even the indisputable fact of Russian authorities in the domestic policy of these countries, constant attempts to destabilize the situation, although within the United States, even within the EU, direct aggression against neighboring states, in fact, can not change this situation.

What do we see in the end. On the one hand, all world democracies impose various sanctions (you can argue as much as you like) on Russia and Belarus, trying not only to punish individual characters, but also to damage the sovereign economies of dictatorial regimes. And on the other hand, the influential financial institution, an integral component of the current Western world, allocates considerable funds to support the economies of these countries. And then to Western politicians to ask the question: and then what is the meaning of the sanctions we have imposed?

However, to complain about these apparent (or even real) contradictions not only nobody, but also completely pointless - the Western world is so arranged, this is how democracy works. MFV is a truly independent financial institution, he lives in his regulations, relying on his own procedures. And this is not a unique case at all. What can you do ...

It remains only once again to state that the modern West, by and large, has nothing to oppose to Vladimir Putin, who is now the best specialist in the world for the use of all the subtleties and nuances of the civilized world so hated by him.
