President Vladimir Putin fired the Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Lieutenant General Rostislav Rassokhov. His decree was published on the portal of regulatory acts.

Rassokhov took office in May 2020, replacing Igor Krasnov, who became Prosecutor General. Before that, he was an investigator for particularly important cases, and since November 2018, he headed the main department of the Investigative Committee for the investigation of particularly important cases; in April the department was liquidated .

As deputy chairman of the Investigative Committee, Rassokhov, as RBC wrote , oversaw the department for particularly important cases until its abolition, the department’s new forensic center, as well as investigative departments for transport and the investigation department at the Baikonur complex.

Kommersant noted that Rassokhov, as an investigator, led the case of the former Tula governor Vyacheslav Dudka, the Togliattiazot case, and also, as the head of the GUROVD, authorized the criminal prosecution of the ex-Minister for “Open Government” Mikhail Abyzov.

The minister’s defense then called it a violation that FSB officers handed over the report on Abyzov directly to Rassokhov, bypassing Bastrykin and his deputies, and he qualified the case under the article on a criminal community (210 of the Criminal Code).

Before the GUROVD was abolished and became part of the main investigative department of the Investigative Committee, it investigated the case of the former Khabarovsk governor Sergei Furgal. , having studied the materials, wrote that it was based on the testimony of a convicted Interior Ministry employee, who referred to another person’s stories about the murders. Rassokhov, who oversaw the department , said in an interview with Kommersant about the Furgal case that “the times when slander is the queen of evidence are long gone.”
