A Muscovite who protested on a tree with a crossbow against renovation was charged

Muscovite Olga Kuzmina, who climbed a tree with a crossbow as part of a protest against renovation, was charged with hooliganism. This was reported by lawyer from OVD-Info Katerina Tertukhina.

According to the decision to bring her as a defendant, Kuzmina carried out her action by conspiring with “unidentified persons”; The document also states that the activist used a “pre-prepared object used as a weapon” - a crossbow. Investigators write that, according to the crossbow research certificate, it is not a cold throwing weapon, but is used for sports, recreation and entertainment.

Nevertheless, fire and rescue service employees, according to the resolution, took the threat with a crossbow seriously, which means that Kuzmina “resisted persons suppressing violations of public order.”

The Muscovite is charged with hooliganism committed by prior conspiracy with the use of objects used as weapons (Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code).

The case against Kuzmina was opened because of the action on August 9 - she climbed a tree and thus demanded that construction on Yantarnaya Street be stopped. The activist had a crossbow with her, with which she wanted to protect herself in case they wanted to forcibly remove her from the tree.

After the action, Kuzmina was arrested for six days. Then the security forces searched her home and took away all her equipment and electronic media. At the exit from the special detention center, the woman was detained and sent to a temporary detention facility. On August 17, she was given house arrest.
