In Murmansk, the ex-coordinator of Navalny's headquarters was interrogated as a witness in Navalny's new case

On August 23, the Investigative Committee for the Murmansk Region questioned the former coordinator of Navalny’s local headquarters, Violetta Grudina. She is a witness in a new criminal case brought against Alexei Navalny under the article on the creation of an organization that encroaches on the personality and rights of citizens (Article 239 of the Criminal Code). Grudina reported this on her Telegram channel.

According to the activist, the interrogation lasted only 15 minutes. Grudina believes that the case is “absurd” and “this is another excuse for Alexey Navalny to sit in prison longer, and for his supporters to continue to be persecuted.”

The case against Alexei Navalny, ex-director of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) Ivan Zhdanov and former head of Navalny's headquarters Leonid Volkov was opened back in February, shortly after the wave of winter rallies. The case became known only in April, when the prosecutor’s office’s claim to recognize FBK and Navalny’s headquarters as “extremist organizations” was being considered.

In July, a criminal case was opened against Grudina herself under the “sanitary” article (Article 236 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, Grudina participated in the election campaign while sick with coronavirus. She was forcibly hospitalized . In the hospital, she went on a hunger strike because the administration of the institution did not hand over her documents to the election commission. Now Grudinais under recognizance not to leave the place.
In addition, the activist reported that a pre-investigation check was being conducted against her under the article on repeated violations of rally legislation (Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code - “Dadinskaya”).
On June 9, 2021, the Moscow City Court recognized the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens' Rights (FZPG) and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny as “extremist organizations.”
