Municipal deputy and Pussy Riot member Lyusa Stein was sentenced to a year of restriction of freedom for a “sanitary matter”

The Preobrazhensky District Court of Moscow sentenced municipal deputy and Pussy Riot member Lyusya Stein, accused in a “sanitary case,” to a year of restricted freedom. This “Mediazone” was reported to Pussy Riot .

The accused was prohibited from leaving the house from 22:00 to 06:00, changing her place of residence without notification, participating in rallies, and also leaving Moscow without reporting it. Stein will have to report to the inspection twice a month.

The prosecutor asked her for two years of restriction of freedom.

Stein, like the rest of the defendants in the case, was forbidden to leave the house from 22:00 to 06:00 and to travel outside of Moscow. Before changing the preventive measure in April, she was under house arrest.

During the trial, the deputy was detained on June 22 on her way to the store and arrested for 15 days for disobeying the police (Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code). In the special detention center, Stein became infected with the coronavirus.

In total, 11 oppositionists were charged with the “sanitary case” of incitement to violate sanitary and epidemiological rules at the rally on January 23 (part 4 of article 33, part 1 of article 236 of the Criminal Code); later the charge against municipal deputy Konstantin Jankauskas was dropped .

According to investigators, the defendants called on social networks to go to a rally in support of politician Alexei Navalny on January 23. Because of this, according to security officials, people who should have been quarantined came to the center of Moscow - creating a threat of “mass disease of people.”

Lawyer Lyubov Sobol was sentenced to a year and a half of restriction of freedom; Navalny's press secretary Kira Yarmysh was given the same punishment. The ex-coordinator of the Moscow office Oleg Stepanov received a year of restriction of freedom, as did the politician’s ally Nikolai Lyaskin. Navalny's brother Oleg was sentenced to a suspended sentence.

Oppositionist Akel Dani Tamamm received a fine of 100 thousand rubles; he was the only one found guilty of violating sanitary standards (Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code), and not inciting their violation. His case was processed in one day.

Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina , head Anastasia Vasilyeva and municipal deputyDmitry Baranovsky remain under investigation.
