The Pervomaisky District Court of Novosibirsk sentenced local resident Igor Marenkov, who beat taxi driver Irina along with teenagers, to five years in prison. This was reported by the press service of the court.
All defendants were accused of car theft with violence (Part 4 of Article 166 of the Criminal Code), Marenkov was also involved in the case of involving minors in committing a crime (Part 4 of Article 150 of the Criminal Code).
The teenagers were sentenced to three, four and four years and one month each in a juvenile correctional facility. Marenkov received five years in a maximum security colony; he was found not guilty of involving schoolchildren in car theft and recognized the right to rehabilitation.
The beating occurred on the night of December 3-4, 2020. Then the teenagers, together with 23-year-old Marenkov, approached the car of taxi driver Irina, who stopped to buy cigarettes.
“The store operates through a window. And these inadequate guys came up and started hammering on the door, and she stood next to her. She said, "Wait." Well, here we go <...> There’s just no face, the eyes don’t open, everything is blue,” said the victim’s sister Olga.
According to the Investigative Committee, two 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old teenager, together with a drunken Marenkov, kicked and punched Irina about 20 times on the head, body and limbs.
After the beating, the company dragged the taxi driver into her own car and went for a ride around the city. The traffic police officers began a pursuit, as a result, the attackers crashed into a snowdrift and were detained. The victim suffered bruises and a ruptured eyelid.
