A resident of Voronezh, convicted under the article on justification of terrorism, has her sentence confirmed

The military appeal court in Vlasikha upheld the sentence of Voronezh resident Nadezhda Belova, who was convicted under the article of justifying terrorism because of her comment about the explosion in the building of the Arkhangelsk FSB Directorate. This was reported by SOTA.

On December 4, 2020, the woman was found guilty of justifying terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) due to a comment about the self-detonation of anarchist Mikhail Zhlobitsky in the FSB Directorate of the Arkhangelsk Region in 2018. She was given a fine of 400 thousand rubles.

During the appeal, the defense asked to acquit Belova, presenting as arguments for her innocence a certificate from VKontakte stating that the woman had not accessed the network when the comment was left there.

“I ask you,” Belova addressed the judges, “you will not save all political prisoners. But act like a judge and a human being and stop this. Keep in mind that there was a trial in The Hague. And everyone was convicted. At least remember this."

The court upheld Belova's sentence.

• Nadezhda Belova is an activist; before the trial, she fought against the abolition of direct routes from Voronezh to Novaya Usman, and collected signatures at public gatherings. In this regard, complaints were written against her that she was allegedly organizing mass riots. Belova actively participated in protests against raising fares.
• Belova was detained on May 13 after interrogation and kept in a temporary detention center for a day. She told how she testified under threats, but soon abandoned them. In July, she was included in the list of persons compiled by Rosfinmonitoring for whom there is information about their involvement in extremist activities or terrorism.
• On the morning of October 31, 2018, in the FSB building in Arkhangelsk, 17-year-old local resident Mikhail Zhlobitsky detonated a bomb. Three employees were injured, the young man himself died. A few minutes before the explosion, a message about the attack appeared in the telegram open chat of “Rebel Rebel”. A criminal case was opened regarding a terrorist attack. Also, more than 30 criminal cases have already been opened to justify terrorism due to comments about Zhlobitsky’s act. Some defendants were sentenced to real terms.
