The prosecutor asks that Dmitry Baranovsky, a defendant in the “sanitary case,” be subject to a restriction of freedom

In Moscow, the prosecutor at a meeting of the Preobrazhensky Court asked to sentence the person involved in the “sanitary case”, the Mundane Deputy Dmitry Baranovsky, to one year and ten months of restriction of freedom. This was reported by the politician’s lawyer Alexey Vasiliev, who collaborates with OVD-Info.

Baranovsky is accused of inciting violation of sanitary and epidemiological standards (Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code with the use of Part 4 of Article 33 of the Criminal Code) due to the action on January 23 in support of Alexei Navalny.

The “sanitary case” case was opened after the January protests. According to the Moscow authorities, the rally was attended by 20 people under surveillance by the Social Monitoring system due to infection or contact with coronavirus patients.

Charges were brought against those who, according to the investigation, called for participation in the protests, as well as one person (Dani Akel), who, allegedly responding to these calls, came to the rally, although he was sick with coronavirus.

The sentences in the “sanitary case” were given to Dani Akel , Lyubov Sobol , Kira Yarmysh , Nikolai Lyaskin , Oleg Navalny , Oleg Stepanov and Lyusa Stein .
