Over the past 24 hours, 19,286 cases of COVID-19 infection have been identified in Russia

In Russia, 19,286 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected per day, according to the capital's infection control headquarters. Among those infected, 6.9% had no clinical manifestations of the disease.

797 people died directly from COVID-19, 52 of them in Moscow, 38 in St. Petersburg. Over the entire period of the pandemic in Russia, the infection claimed 181,637 lives.

In Moscow, 1444 cases of coronavirus were recorded per day, in St. Petersburg - 1318, in the Moscow region - 914. Next in the list of regions of the Russian Federation with the largest increase in COVID per day are Sverdlovsk (+523) and Rostov (+485) regions.

In the world during the entire period of the pandemic, more than 216 million cases of coronavirus infection were detected .

According to Rosstat , more than 50,000 Russians died with COVID-19 in July, the highest since the beginning of the pandemic. The previous anti-record was set in December 2020, when 45,331 people died.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that mortality in Russia in July 2021 increased by 18.6% compared to the same period last year.

At the same time, she noted that a significant decrease in mortality from COVID-19 occurred in Moscow, the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region "due to an increase in vaccination coverage."
