In the Altai Territory, customs officers fined a German citizen one thousand rubles because she had a Jehovah's Witnesses brochure with her. This was reported on the website of the Siberian Customs Administration.
The woman was charged with failure to comply with customs prohibitions and restrictions (Article 16.3 of the Administrative Code). She was carrying the brochure “Humanity in Search of God,” which, as the SOVA Information and Analytical Center notes , was declared extremist in 2009.
The report says that the woman purchased the brochure in Germany and did not know that it was banned in Russia. As a result, customs officers confiscated the publication, and now they must destroy it.
