Searches of Jehovah's Witnesses were conducted in Chuvashia

In Chuvashia, searches were carried out at the homes of followers of Jehovah's Witnesses. This was reported on a website covering the persecution of believers.

On August 31, investigators conducted a search and interrogated Cheboksary resident Ivan Elagin. On September 2, searches took place in the city of Kanash. Presumably, investigative actions in both cities are being conducted in one criminal case on organizing the activities of an extremist organization (Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code), which the FSB opened on June 16, 2021 against unidentified persons.

• On April 20, 2017, the Supreme Court recognized the “Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia” as an extremist organization, liquidated it and banned its activities in Russia. In August, all Jehovah's Witnesses organizations were added to the list of prohibited organizations. After this, a stream of criminal cases against representatives of the confession began.
