Miracles on Channel One

Nikolai Rozanov

In 2021, the Channel One twice showed in the popular program “Tonight” a program with the heading “Wang:“ The time will come of miracles ... ”” [ 1 ]. In the program, people and journalists mainly closely participated, which led, to put it mildly, to a unilateral picture of the activity of the character under discussion.

As far as one can understand, the judgment of the mechanism of Vanga’s “divinces” prevailing in the transfer was her connection with the cosmos and with the world of the dead. It was mentioned that the coronavirus epidemic was supposedly caused by an explosion of a comet or meteorite that sprayed viruses over China. The space theme, apparently, can be recognized as an important contribution to the propaganda of spiritualism, so brightly described by L. N. Tolstoy in the comedy “Fruits of Enlightenment” (1889). Unfortunately, the participants in the program ignored the exposure of these spiritualtics presented by L. N. Tolstoy.

The facts uncomforted in the program give a completely different interpretation of “success” and the popularity of Wanga. As the participants in the program [ 1 ] were actually recognized, its activities were supervised by the Bulgarian authorities. After their sanction, registered people who wanted to get to Vang should, as a rule, expect this visit for about a week - a sufficient period for collecting information about them. The testimony of the famous Soviet journalist and diplomat Alexander Evgenievich Bovin [ 2 ] is significant in this regard. During such a weekly expectation, people who helped to arrange a meeting with Vanga invited him to go to the bathhouse. On the advice of the well -known exposure of “psychics” Yuri Gavrilovich Gorno (Yashkova), before visiting the bath A.E. Bovin seized part of the scrotum with a patch. And at the reception of Wang, she “predicted” that serious problems with reproductive organs would not allow him to create a full -fledged family.

However, not all “predictions” of Wangi are owe to the agent network. An example of an unauthorized (due to absurdity) prediction is a prophecy about the commissioning of the USSR troops in Chile in 1973 [ 2 ]. It is impossible not to admit that some predictions of Wanga have come true, but this is either because of their general nebula, or banality, or due to accidental coincidences. A more complete analysis of the techniques of various “psychics” can be found in the publications of the magazine “Science and Life” [ 3 ] and in the releases of the collection of the RAS Commission to combat the pseudoscience “In Defense of Science” [4, 5 ].

If the maid Tanya at L. N. Tolstoy deceived gullible gentlemen “for noble purposes”, then this cannot be said about the motives of the organizers of this program. It is hardly necessary to explain that the dominance of mysticism and superstitions causes tremendous damage to the intellectual health of the nation, and leads to its folk. It seems unacceptable that the federal television channel receiving huge financial subsidies at the expense of taxpayers act as a propagandist of such views. And it is unfortunate that such a talented artist as Maxim Galkin took an active part in this.
