The court refused to remove the Kuban oppositionist from the State Duma elections

The Yeisk City Court refused to consider the prosecutor's office's claim to remove Alexander Korovainy, whose candidacy was nominated by the Yabloko party, from the State Duma elections. The Caucasian Knot reports this.

According to the prosecutor's office, Korovayny took part in the action on January 31 and “repeatedly distributed information materials aimed at discrediting the policies pursued by government bodies of the Russian Federation and containing statements in support of A.A. Navalny.” as the ideological leader of the Navalny Headquarters social movement.”

As evidence, the department referred to Korovayny’s video, in which the activist demanded an investigation into the poisoning of Alexei Navalny and his release from the colony. Following this video, the police drew up a report against Korovayny under the article on “fakes” (Part 2 of Article 13.15 of the Administrative Code).

The activist clarified that he did not take part in the rally on January 31 and was at the rally on an editorial assignment.

As a result, the Yeisk City Court refused to consider the prosecutor’s request to remove Korovayny from the elections.
