The court extended the house arrest of MP Ketevan Kharaydze

The Khamovnichesky District Court of Moscow extended the house arrest of municipal deputy Ketevan Kharaidze until November 16. This was reported in the “Ketevan Kharaidze – IO 208” community on Facebook.

“(The court) once again showed the public that Keti really poses a threat to the current government if, from time to time, she is not allowed to leave the house and conduct an election campaign. Even in the remaining days,” write Kharaidze’s supporters.

On July 12, the Mundep was released from the pre-trial detention center, replacing his detention with house arrest. The preventive measure was softened after a 63-year-old woman went on a hunger strike in a pre-trial detention center.

• Kharaidze is accused of fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code). In May, the deputy announced her intention to participate in the September elections to the State Duma. She links the criminal case to this decision. On June 17, security forces came to search her home. They confiscated her phone, computer and took two five-thousand dollar bills from her coat. The politician told her neighbor Varvara Gornostaeva that she did not put this money in her coat. Then Kharaidze was taken to the Investigative Committee for a night interrogation; a lawyer was not allowed to see her for a long time. Investigative measures began on the day when Kharaydzewas vaccinated against coronavirus. Possible side effects did not prevent the security forces from taking her away for an overnight interrogation after the search, and the court did not prevent her from imposing the strictest possible preventive measure.
