The administration of the colony does not transfer to the anarchist Azat Miftakhov the items from the parcels sent to him

Azat Miftakhov, an anarchist sentenced to six years in prison, who is serving his sentence in IK-17, is not given some of the things from the parcels sent to him. This was told by the mathematician's wife Elena Gorban.

“The administration of the colony says on the phone that it is forbidden to send books to prisoners, and they are not handed over. But Azat still asked to send them, because other prisoners did not have such problems - their books from parcels were sent to the censor for verification. The books I sent were immediately unconditionally sent to the warehouse with “free things” to wait for the addressee upon release,” says the anarchist’s wife.

Gorban added that, according to the lawyer, some of the other things would be handed over to Miftakhov only after the consent of the head of the colony, but the administration’s statement “was supposedly too early to write, because no one would strain for the sake of one convict.”

Miftakhov and Gorban were given less than 7 minutes for a telephone conversation instead of the prescribed 15. Over the past month and a half, they managed to talk twice for 7 minutes.

In June 2019, Doklady Akademii Nauk published an article by Azat Miftakhov in collaboration with Vladimir Bogachev and Stanislav Shaposhnikov - "Differential Properties of Semigroups and Estimates of Distances between Stationary Diffusion Distributions".

• Azat Miftakhov and Elena Gorban were found guilty of hooliganism by prior conspiracy in the case of the attack on the United Russia office in Khovrino at the end of January 2018. Then, according to investigators, Miftakhov, Gorban, Andrei Eikin and Aleksey Kobaidze broke a window in the office and threw a smoke bomb into it. Gorban was given four years probation, Eikin two years probation, Kobaidze left Russia. Miftakhov reported on the torture of screwdrivers after his arrest. Other defendants in the case also spoke about the pressure.
