In the Tyumen region, the senior inspector of the local department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Pavel Tigeev, will be tried on a case of negligence (Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code) due to a January fire in a nursing home, where seven people died. This was reported by the press service of the main department of the Investigative Committee.
According to the investigation, for two years Tigeev “did not take measures to stop the violations of fire safety requirements that were committed in it (the nursing home - MZ”). The department claims that this led to a fire on January 9, 2021, which killed seven guests of the boarding house.
After the fire, the court arrested the owner of the institution, Olga Williamson. She is accused of causing death by negligence of two or more people (Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code) and providing services that do not meet safety requirements (Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code). As the Investigative Committee clarified, she is also charged with the offense of destroying someone else’s property through negligence (Article 168 of the Criminal Code). Now the materials of her case have been sent to court.
In addition, negligence cases were filed against three unidentified officials in January.
