The prosecutor asked for three years in prison for a Nizhny Novgorod resident for a brawl with the police. The security officer knocked out his teeth and broke the bones of his face, and he was left with an abrasion on his lip

The prosecutor in the Nizhny Novgorod District Court of Nizhny Novgorod requested three years in a strict regime colony in the case of the use of violence against the police (Article 318 of the Criminal Code) for a resident of the city, Roman Gusev, who was beaten after detention. This was reported to Novaya Gazeta by the Committee Against Torture.

Human rights activists said that Gusev was detained on April 19 while trying to steal a bottle of whiskey from a supermarket. According to him, when drawing up the protocol, he had a conflict with one of the security officials, a scuffle ensued. Gusev said that the policeman broke his leg, in response the man tried to brush it off, but this only angered the security official. The latter led the detainee into a service car and, according to the Nizhny Novgorod citizen himself, beat him.

CCTV footage shows the man getting out of the police car. He spits blood. Later, doctors recorded multiple fractures of Gusev's face, broken teeth, and his vision deteriorated after the incident. The security officer had only an abrasion on his lip.

Gusev twice applied to the Investigative Committee with a statement about the crime, but both times he was denied initiation of a case: there are no records from the passenger compartment of the car and from the chest recorders of the police. The investigation notes that at that moment they were turned off.
