The Pervouralsk City Court imposed a year of restriction of freedom on the defendant in the “palace case” Nikita Khaitov. This was reported by lawyer Fyodor Akchermyshev, who collaborates with OVD-Info.
Khaitov was found guilty under the article on calls for participation in mass riots (Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code). At the last meeting, the prosecutor asked to impose one and a half years of restriction of freedom on him.
According to investigators, the accused called on social networks for mass unrest in anticipation of rallies in support of Alexei Navalny on January 23 and 31. Before the court's decision, Khaitov was under recognizance not to leave as a preventive measure.
FSB officers used force against Nikita Khaitov when they detained him in May 2021. A friend of his told OVD-Info about this.
According to an acquaintance of Khaitov, the man was attacked by masked people who were waiting for him in a gazelle not far from his house. They put a bag over his head. Khaitov later learned that he was under surveillance, in which at least five people participated.
