Ivan Ivanov, chairman of the Pechera Rescue Committee, received a warning from the police about a meeting of election observers on September 25 in Ukhta. The security forces confused him with the namesake. It is reported by "Horizontal Russia".
According to the publication, on September 24, Ivanov received a call from the police and was told that he was the organizer of the protest action on September 25 in Ukhta - the activist allegedly filed a notice of the event with local authorities and pasted flyers with invitations around the city. “Of course, I can do all this, but I don’t need someone else’s glory. Interestingly, now I will be responsible for the actions of all Ivan Ivanovs, real and fake? - the chairman of the organization wrote in social networks.
The civil activist arrived at the police station, where he was given a warning “about the inadmissibility of violating the law on rallies and coronavirus restrictions.” The police were not embarrassed by the fact that Ivanov first learned about the action only at the police department, and besides, he lives not in Ukhta, but in the village of Nizhny Odes, located 60 kilometers from the city.
“I signed for the warning, gave an explanation that I had no idea about any rallies, and wrote a complaint to the Interior Minister Komi. I haven't been attracted to anything yet. But you can’t issue such warnings to just anyone right and left. There should be information that this person is going to do something, this information needs to be checked. I don't know if there was a notification about the rally at all, and if there was, who filed it and through what channels. Perhaps they really confused me with someone and there is another Ivan Ivanov. I hope this is a misunderstanding, and not malicious intent and provocation. I am waiting for a response to the complaint, maybe then everything will become clear,” Ivanov is quoted by Horizontal Russia.
