VKontakte blocked the page of a lawyer from Cheboksary at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office

VKontakte blocked the profile of Cheboksary lawyer Roman Raimov at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office. This was reported by Idel.Realii.

According to the lawyer, he rarely uses social networks: he did not leave comments, and he deleted publications mentioning banned organizations. The reason for the blocking is unknown. The administration of the social network or departments did not provide reasons for the blocking. In May, Raimov was detained because of someone else’s comment “Orthodoxy or death.”

The requirement of the Prosecutor General’s Office, which VKontakte refers to when trying to access Raimov’s page, also applies to other materials blocked by Roskomnadzor, for example, the YouTube channel of Lyubov Sobol.

Previously, VKontakte blocked the pages of the former heads of Navalny’s headquarters in Tver, Tambov and Khabarovsk due to mentions of “Smart Voting”.

• The court recognized the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens' Rights (FZPG) and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny as extremist organizations on June 9, 2021. In July, Roskomnadzor blocked almost 50 websites associated with Alexei Navalny. In September, Roskomnadzor blocked the Smart Voting website.
