Human rights activist Valentina Chupik left Russia. She flew to Yerevan

Human rights activist Valentina Chupik, previously detained at Sheremetyevo Airport, flew from Russia to Armenia. This is reported by Mediazona with reference to the assistant to the activist Alexander Kim.

“Uzbekistan issued a new passport to Valentina Chupik. She is currently on board a plane that took off just over an hour ago for Yerevan,” Kim told the publication.

Chupik was detained on September 25 - from that moment she was in a special detention center at Sheremetyevo Airport. Her documents were confiscated and she was deprived of her refugee status in Russia. The FSB handed her an entry ban notice until 2051. After that, security forces came to Chupik's 84-year-old mother .

On September 30, the ECHR banned Russia from deporting the human rights activist until at least October 17. The Court applied Rule No. 39, which allows the use of interim measures in the context of a human rights complaint.
