The Federal Penitentiary Service has begun transferring the convicted ex-head of the Serpukhov district of the Moscow region

The ex-head of the Serpukhov district of the Moscow region, Alexander Shestun, sentenced to 15 years in a colony, was transferred to pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Yaroslavl. The prisoner spoke about this in a letter to his family, which is referred to by the prisoner's support group in the telegram channel.

According to Shestun, the move from Noginsk, where he had previously been held, to Yaroslavl took place in a very cold carriage; upon arrival, heating in the isolation ward was also not immediately given. Because of this, the prisoner began to develop symptoms of acute respiratory viral infections, and his neighbor in the cell also showed signs of a cold.

On October 3, Shestun's support group stated that the Federal Penitentiary Service transferred him from pre-trial detention center No. 11 in Noginsk near Moscow, presumably to the Tver region, without informing his family of his next destination.

against Shestun In April, a new criminal case was opened under three articles at once: threat or violent acts in connection with the administration of justice (part 1 of article 296 of the Criminal Code), insulting a judge (part 2 of article 297 of the Criminal Code) and insulting a representative of authority (art. 319 of the Criminal Code). In 2021, the European Court of Human Rights declared illegal the extension of Shestun's arrest during the judicial investigation, as well as the duration of his stay in a pre-trial detention center. The Memorial Human Rights Center considers the persecution of Shestun politically motivated and demands a retrial.
