The Ministry of Justice included nine journalists and three companies in the register of media “foreign agents”

The Ministry of Justice included nine journalists and three companies in the register of media outlets performing the functions of “foreign agents.” This is reported on the department's website.

The list included:

• Galina Arapova (director of the Center for the Protection of Media Rights, recognized as a foreign agent in 2015);
• Tatyana Voltskaya (freelance correspondent for Radio Liberty, recognized as a foreign agent in 2017);
• Andrey Zakharov (correspondent for the BBC Russian service, previously wrote for Project, which is considered undesirable in Russia)
• Ekaterina Klepikovskaya (publication of Sever.Realii, recognized as a foreign agent in 2019);
• Roman Pearl (collaborated with the TV channels “Current Time”, recognized as a foreign agent in 2017, RTVI);
• Evgeny Simonov (coordinator of the International Coalition “Rivers Without Borders” Evgeny Simonov, wrote for Radio Liberty);
• Elena Solovyova (Syktyvkar journalist, wrote for “7×7” and “Novaya Gazeta”);
• Daniil Sotnikov (journalist for the Dozhd TV channel, recognized as a foreign agent in 2021, wrote for Project);
• Elizaveta Surnacheva (editor of Current Time, ex-employee of the Project);
• Limited Liability Company "MEMO" (legal entity of the publication "Caucasian Knot");
• American company "Mason GES Anonymous Foundation" (owner of the publication MNews );
• Stichting Bellingcat, a company registered in the Netherlands (owner of the investigative publication Bellingcat ).

On September 29, the Ministry of Justice included the independent human rights media project OVD-Info in the register of unregistered public associations performing the functions of a “foreign agent.” On the same day as OVD-Info, 22 people and 4 more organizations received “foreign agent” status.

OVD-Info issued a statement about the decision of the Ministry of Justice, in which the project participants explain why they consider it an act of political pressure.
