Evgeny Aleksandrovich Evstigneev (1926-1992) was born on the outskirts of Nizhny Novgorod, in the village named after Volodarsky. Both parents were workers: his father worked as a metal meter, his mother - a milling mill. When his wife was six years old, her father died, the mother married a second time. The stepfather died when his wife was 17. Before the war he graduated from the seven-year-old, in 1941 he settled down an electrician, then worked as a locksmith at the Red Etna plant. Then he began to engage in amateur performances, he was a drummer in a jazz band.

In 1946, Evstigneeva was noticed by the director of the Nizhgogodsk Theater School Vitaly Lebsky: he was delighted with the performance of the Evstigneev Orchestra at the local cinema. After graduating from the school, he worked for three seasons by distribution in the Vladimir drama theater. In 1954, he entered the second year at the Moscow Art Theater School, a year later, participated in the creation of the "studio of young actors"-the future of "Contemporary".
