The landmark event went unnoticed. Russian President Vladimir Putin three months and three weeks ago, June 21, 2021, imposed a resolution on the document: "Consider, work in detail and support." A document - a letter from the Moscow Art Theater named after Chekhov, signed by the artistic director/director of Sergey Zhenovach and six people's artists of the republic: Stanislav Lyubshin, Irina Miroshnichenko, Mikhail Porechenkov, Igor Vernik, Konstantin Khabensky, Alexei Kravchenko, painted - T.A. Golikova.

In the letter of the Moscow Art Theater, the President is talking about the upcoming anniversary of the theater, the 125th anniversary. We quote a fragment: “Moscow Art Theater is the first theater that has implemented the reform of the repertoire, which created its own circle of topics and authors. It was in the Art Theater that the plays of Chekhov, Bulgakov, Gorky were first played. For many years, performances were performed in Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Ostrovsky, Shakespeare, Moliere and others for many years. They always strove for creative idealism, kept the brand of high artistry.

Of course, we understand that 125 years - the date is not round. But given the uniqueness and special importance of the art theater for Russian culture, we would be very grateful if you made it possible to widely celebrate this event, supported the theater. ”

The first person of the state decided to support the first stage of the country. Covering step. And, it would seem, a direct guide to action for lower officials.

But no.

Today, the theater world of the capital is full of one incredible hearing: a contract with director Sergei Zhenovach, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova is about to terminate ahead of schedule.

What happened in three months? Did you kill a man? The troupe writes letters against Khudruk, goes out into the street, gives comments that expand the leadership? Did financial audit find a number of serious violations? Is the repertoire ruined, insulted the very spirit of the theater?

Nothing of the kind. All this happens, but in different other state theater institutions. In Bolshoi, Ermolovsky, Gorky Moscow Moscow Art Theater, Lenkoma ...

But it is Zhenovach who intend to shoot, according to rumors. A person whose three -year stay at the post is marked by the appearance of seriously worthy performances, a young director's shift, finally, after a long break, an art program. A person whose talented students work in all Russian geography. And on whose first three years the difficult social situation, an epidemic, quarantine, and a personal test fell out - a serious heart operation.

Why?

In my opinion, for three reasons.

The first reason is persecution . It was not today a telegram channels were deployed. For several months now, insulting assessments and a direct lie about the Moscow Art Theater MHT are moving from one “cultural experts” to others. On his own behalf, no one is allowed to express what is expressed on behalf of anonymous clicked. Drushes reputation with impunity, tar smear everything that is happening today in the chamberlain. New performances are declared bad, those that are filmed - the best, Oleg Tabakov - an unattainable example of the leader. Lies on long legs steep the situation.

At the same time, the vocabulary of the authors, the level of representations and the class of characteristics send the reader to the only corresponding place: to the trash. But opinions from this garbage is a barometer of future decisions. Once, in the performance of the Nyakroshus “Uncle Vanya” behind the curtains of events, the decisive role found the palane, gradually turning into a destructive force. So it happens here. But the truth has nothing to do with the backstage tasks: in the “ideal husband” taken away, which was raised by demonstrative universal crying, invited artists played - an excessive organizational and financial burden for any theater. The level of the new repertoire can be appreciated by those who are generally able to evaluate the facts of art and painstaking hard work to create their own world. And the “successful” Tabakovsky Moscow Art Theater, in which they worshiped the cash desk, was vulnerable in his own way.

Today's reality is surprisingly arranged: anonymous toads croak piercingly and for money (they are now roads, not everyone can afford them, only a specific interest). Sergey Zhenovach and his whole path in the theater know everyone, “toads” - only their employers. But even those who know how well they have paid, believe that the “toads” express public opinion and protrude on behalf of the truth: they themselves pay - and they themselves believe.

The second reason is Marina Andreikina . The deputy director, which was chosen by Sergey Vasilievich himself, on the appointment of which he insisted - contrary to everyone. Well, this is not a crime - this is a mistake. Perhaps fatal.

Andreikina from GITIS to the Moscow Art Theater came with promises to create a new trusteeship of the theater, attract extrabudgetary financing, and free the artistic director from economic care for the sake of staged activities. But nothing has been done in three years.

There is no program to strengthen the material and technical base of the theater, there is no policy of social support for employees, there is no work with personnel and the audience. Even the issues of car parking at first was solved by the artistic director.

The Moscow Art Theater began to have problems with such management, the economy, the team, accustomed to money, crackled, felt the difference.

Finally, the Zhenovach himself realized: there is a huge distance between theory and practice.

The salary of Andreikina, according to information from open sources, is at least half a million rubles a month. As soon as the parting dawn, all available funds were mobilized. Communications in the Ministry of Culture, plums of telegram channels, and not only them. Andreikina put all her mistakes, miscalculations, her professional failure on Zhenovach. I organized a storm, she took the ballot. And then the artistic director (beauty of theatrical accident), passing through Moscow, saw the “sick” deputy in a tracksuit on a run.

The third reason . As soon as the Zhenovach was appointed, the force indicated in the epigraph of the glorified Pushkin story as “secret ill -wishes” entered the game. Many wanted to be in his place. Many believed that they would cope better. Many were brutally envious.

Someone walked around the main shadow cabinets. Someone paid for the injury on TLG platforms. Someone tried to draw the artists into conspiracies (telegram channels were indignant that the actors were not going to rebel, but they rehearse with enthusiasm). Black whirlwinds were worn and rushed in the chamberlain. This is the entailing place, the first scene of the country.

Among the applicants, the positions of the current artist are called several. Konstantin Bogomolov, Evgeny Mironov, Konstantin Khabensky - either one or the other lives and wins in folk rumor as the Savior of the theater.

“Are you going to take the Moscow Art Theater?” I asked Mary Evseevna Revyakina at the opening of the memorial plaque Anatoly Efros (who knew everything about theatrical betrayal).

And indeed, how to believe that Yevgeny Mironov is going to lead the theater in the chamberlain? Even with the mighty point influence of Yevgeny Vitalievich in a variety of governing bodies - the city hall, the State Duma, finally, AP - it is unlikely that he, a decent person and a great artist, is able to forget the words of Stanislavsky: "The role does not end with the omiting of the curtain, the actor is obliged to be a wire of the beautiful in life."

The current artistic director must give the opportunity to strengthen and realize the plan. The Minister of Culture seems to be genetically obliged to understand: the head of the Moscow Art Theater should be the director and adherent of the repertoire, and not the design theater. The creator and successor of the artistic idea, the leader, the credit of the trust of which is provided with creativity, biography and the opinion of the first persons of the Russian directing, blessed him to the “kingdom”.

Artistic leadership is not a service of anyone's interests, not a momentary commercial success. This is a painstaking hard work, the creation of your world. Theaters should lead the directors with an art program, their own view. And Sergey Zhenovach is just such a person. A real big artist. No successful management will replace the art field that the director can create. When the theater is not headed by the director, as a rule, completely different principles and tasks are posed at the forefront. And often artistic success, of course, the necessary theater, is replaced by a commercial or star-empty noise, but these are false joys.

Are people responsible for their appointments one from the other? Not sure. There are fewer directors who guide theaters. Sergey Vasilievich - literally one of several. Will the institution of the theater benefit from such an approach, how it will develop, what new ideas and meanings will open in it, will the audience come to it for the content, and not to glave to the so -called stars? It seems to me that no. Without artistic ideas, no theater is possible, especially in Russia, in the homeland of the theater of artistic idea. In Russia, the theater has always been more than entertainment. He brings up tastes, speaks of important and forms generations. And the Moscow Art Theater is the most important place in our lives.

Sergei Vasilievich received the theater three years ago. This is very little. It is impossible to build a new one during this time. This theater is inconceivable without a process, without raising actors and, no less important, educating the viewer. This also needs time. Therefore, it is too early to draw conclusions. It is necessary to give the artistic director the opportunity to build his artistic reality. And only the professional community can judge this.
