Doctors in Russia will be allowed to make diagnoses remotely as an experiment

The government plans, as an experiment, to allow certain medical institutions to diagnose patients without the now obligatory face-to-face consultation. It is reported by RBC with reference to the draft resolution prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development.

It is planned that the pilot legal regime (EPR) program in the field of telemedicine will last three years. Its participants were the Medsi group, the SberZdorovye online medical service, the Doctor Nearby digital service, and the Nearmedic network of clinics.

All services will be provided on a commercial basis. Other players can join the experiment if certain conditions are met.

Denis Shvetsov, General Director of the Doctor Nearby service, explains that the doctor will have the opportunity to make a diagnosis, prescribe or correct previously prescribed treatment. A specialist who did not see the patient will also be able to provide a telemedicine service.

Pre-trip and periodic medical examinations of employees to identify contraindications for certain types of work, as well as diagnosis of socially significant diseases and diseases that pose a danger to others, will remain outside the scope of the EPR.
