A court in Cheboksary fined the ex-chief of Navalny’s headquarters because of posts about “Smart Voting”

The Moscow District Court of Cheboksary fined Semyon Kochkin, the ex-head of Navalny’s local headquarters, three thousand rubles because of posts with links to “Smart Voting.” This is reported by “Apology of Protest”.

The oppositionist was detained on October 6. A report was drawn up against him under the article on displaying the symbols of a banned organization (Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences) because of a tweet mentioning “Smart Voting”. And then another protocol on the same article - due to the mention of “Smart Voting” and Navalny’s headquarters on Facebook.

For each of the protocols, the court fined Kochkin one and a half thousand rubles.

• This is not the first such administrative case. In September, a report was drawn up against a pensioner from Astrakhan for demonstrating the symbols of a banned organization due to a single picket with a poster “Smart voting, together against United Russia!”, and in Krasnoyarsk an administrative case was opened against an ex-activist of Navalny’s headquarters for the symbols “N” And "!" on Instagram.
• On October 12, it became known that Semyon Kochkin had left Russia.
• The Moscow City Court recognized the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Foundation for the Defense of Citizens' Rights (FZPG) and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny as extremist organizations on June 9, 2021. In July, Roskomnadzor blocked almost 50 websites associated with Alexei Navalny. In September, Roskomnadzor blocked the website of Smart Voting, an FBK initiative related to recommendations on the expression of will.
