The Swedish manufacturer of IKEA household goods is awaiting a shortage of goods in retail trade within a few months. This was announced in an interview with Bloomberg by Inter Ikea CEO John Abrahamson Ring.
According to the ring, the deficit occurs due to a crisis in supplies chains. He added that it is unlikely that it will be possible to solve the situation during this year and the deficit can be preserved until August 2022. The forecast is associated with logistics problems around the world, which include the overflow of sea ports and the lack of cargo containers. The greatest difficulties are associated with the delivery of goods from China, the ring said.
Due to the problems that have arisen, IKEA is forced to focus on the sale of the most popular goods. Now the company is trying to establish logistics by renting freight containers and alternative railway routes. The ring said that the company's costs will rise, but it does not plan to raise prices in retail.
