The court found the conditions of detention of the defendant in the “New Greatness” case in the pre-trial detention center to be tortured

The Zamoskvoretsky District Court partially satisfied Anna Pavlikova's claim against the Federal Penitentiary Service regarding torture conditions in a pre-trial detention center. This was reported by lawyer Olga Karlova, who collaborates with OVD-Info.

Pavlikova complained about the conditions in detention centers No. 1 (“Matrosskaya Tishina”) and No. 6 (“Pechatniki”), where she was kept during the investigation, and demanded compensation in the amount of 500 thousand rubles.

The court found the conditions of detention to be inadequate and decided to collect 80 thousand rubles in compensation from the institutions. The defense intends to appeal this amount.

Previously, Pavlikova managed to sue the Ministry of Finance for 80 thousand rubles for illegal arrest and detention in a pre-trial detention center, although she filed a claim for 5 million rubles. In addition, she was denied compensation for being kept in an unheated paddy wagon for several hours without warm clothing and other improper conditions during an escort in March 2018.

• Anna Pavlikova is one of 10 defendants in the New Greatness case. In August 2020, the court sentenced her to four years of probation under the article on organizing the activities of an extremist community (Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code).
• In mid-March 2018, members of the previously unknown “New Greatness” movement were detained and then arrested in Moscow. They were charged with organizing and participating in the activities of an extremist community (Part 1 and Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). Lawyers for the accused pointed out that the movement appeared with the active participation of embedded intelligence officers. On August 6, 2020, the court found some of the defendants guilty under the article on organizing the activities of an extremist community (Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code), three were given actual sentences of 6 to 7 years in prison. Another person involved in the case, Pavel Rebrovsky, was sentenced to 6 years in prison in a separate trial. Later, the Moscow City Court commuted the sentences of four defendants in the case.
• Eight lawyers from OVD-Info have worked or continue to work in the New Greatness case at different times: Nikolay Fomin, Olga Karlova, Tatyana Okushko, Alexander Borkov, Mikhail Spiridonov, Dmitry Ivanov, Maria Eismont and Ilya Utkin. The convicts are also defended by lawyers Svetlana Sidorkina, Maxim Pashkov, Karinna Moskalenko, Alexander Lupashko and Ilnur Sharapov.
