Rosprirodnadzor estimated at 4.5 billion rubles damage from oil reference near Novorossiysk

Rosprirodnadzor estimated the damage from the oil spill in the Black Sea of ​​the Black Sea near Novorossiysk at 4.48 billion rubles. This was announced by the head of the department Svetlana Radionova.

The Caspian pipeline consortium (KTK) does not agree with the assessment of Rosprirodnadzor and plans to appeal it after receiving an official notification. The KTK noted that the calculation methodology used by the department is incorrect.

“Difficulties with the calculation of damage can be associated with the features of the design of the emergency device and the used technology of oil loading into the tanker. The volumes of oil that actually got into the sea are calculated, the data are at the disposal of regulatory and investigating authorities, ”the consortium said.

The oil emission from the Greek tanker Minerva Symphony occurred on August 7. The press service of the Caspian pipeline consortium reported that the cause of the incident was a malfunction of the internal cavity of the hydraulic compensator on a remote mooring device. By the evening of the same day, the company reported on the elimination of the consequences of the leak.

The next day, scientists from the Institute of Space Research by the Russian Academy of Sciences found that the spill area in the Black Sea turned out to be 400 thousand times more than previously reported (200 square meters). It compiled, according to the estimates of the scientists of the IKI RAS, amounted to almost 80 square kilometers. The oil spot the day after the accident was elongated from the shore to the open sea at a distance of 19 kilometers.

On the fact of the accident, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under an article on the pollution of the marine environment (part 1 of article 252 of the Criminal Code), later retrained to a heavier corpus delicti - pollution of the marine environment, which caused significant harm to aquatic biological resources and the environment (part 2 of article 252 of the Criminal Code).
