The lawyer reported that Telman Ismailov received political asylum in Montenegro

The former owner of the Cherkizovsky market, Telman Ismailov, who was detained in early October in Montenegro, received political asylum in this country, told the local edition of Vijesti. his lawyer Milos Vuksanovic

According to him, in this regard, Ismailov was released from the detention center. He did not provide other details. Officially, this information has not yet been confirmed.

• Ismailov was detained and arrested in Montenegro in early October on a warrant issued in Russia. The Prosecutor General's Office of Russia reported that it had sent a request to Montenegro for the extradition of a businessman. Ismailov's lawyer, Marina Rusakova, said he was arrested after applying for asylum. On this basis, the defense appealed the decision to arrest.
• Russia put Ismailov on the international wanted list in 2017. In the country, he was arrested in absentia on charges of organizing the murder of two people and illegal arms trafficking (part 2 of article 105, part 3 of article 222 of the Criminal Code), under which he faces up to 20 years in prison. According to the investigation, Ismailov organized the murder of entrepreneurs Vladimir Savkin and Yuri Brylev, committed in 2016 on the Novorizhskoye highway in the Moscow region.
• Kommersant, citing sources , wrote that Ismailov, being wanted by Interpol, spent about three years in Montenegro before his arrest.
