The jury acquitted the former head of the Ramensky district of the Moscow region in the murder of his mistress

The jury acquitted the former head of the Ramensky district of the Moscow region, Andrei Kulakov, in the case of the murder of the deputy chairman of the local Public Chamber, Evgenia Isaenkova.

“He was acquitted by a large majority, five jurors were in favor of acquittal and one was against,” Kulakov’s lawyer Artem Sarbashev told RIA Novosti.

After the announcement of the verdict, Kulakov was released from custody in the courtroom, was told by the Podolsky City Court of the Moscow Region, where the trial of the former official took place. Interfax

Kulakov was detained in 2019. According to investigators, he strangled Isaenkova on the basis of a personal conflict (they were lovers). The Investigative Committee said that the former official did not pass a polygraph test, and his biological traces were found on the body of the deceased woman. Kulakov admitted that he was in a close relationship with Isaenkova, but denied guilt in her murder.

• Andrey Kulakov has worked in the authorities of the Ramensky district since 2004. He became the head of the district in 2016. The official left this post ahead of schedule, a few days before the arrest.
