Former head of Team 29 Ivan Pavlov put on the wanted list

The former head of Team 29, lawyer Ivan Pavlov, was put on the wanted list on September 20. He reports this on his Telegram channel.

“On September 20, the investigator in my criminal case issued a decision to put me on the wanted list. Despite the fact that neither me nor my lawyers have been summoned to the investigator since July, and my whereabouts are not difficult to establish, just call me,” writes Pavlov.

In September, the lawyer left Russia after a case was opened against him for disclosing data from the preliminary investigation (Article 310 of the Criminal Code). According to the security forces, Pavlov, without the consent of the investigator, handed over to Vedomosti journalists a copy of the resolution to bring his client, former journalist Ivan Safronov, as a defendant in the case of high treason.

• At the time of departure, Ivan Pavlov was prohibited from certain actions. This preventive measure was prescribed to him at the end of April. “The bans that were imposed on me in connection with the criminal case gradually made my work impossible. I was prohibited from using communications and the Internet, communicating with my client and some colleagues. In general, I was banned from everything without which a lawyer’s work could not be effective,” said Pavlov.
• On July 18, Team 29, led by Ivan Pavlov, announced its closure. “Team 29” specialized in protecting freedom of speech, led the case of Ivan Safronov and a number of other criminal cases of treason and espionage. The announcement of the cessation of activities was preceded by the blocking of the project website. The explanatory note from Roskomnadzor states that the project’s website contained certain materials from the organization Společnost Svobody Informace, registered in the Czech Republic and recognized as undesirable in Russia. “Team 29” denied the presence of materials from the Czech organization on the site.
