In Crimea, the arrests of those involved in the case of damage to the gas pipeline were extended

The Kiev District Court of Simferopol extended the term of detention of the ex-deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Nariman Dzhelal. This is reported by "Crimean Solidarity" with reference to the lawyer Nikolai Polozov.

The politician will remain in custody until January 23, 2022.

The investigative department of the FSB petitioned for an extension of the arrest. The hearing was held behind closed doors without the participation of the Crimean Tatar public figure - he is undergoing a psychiatric examination, which he was also appointed at the request of the investigation.

Dzhelal is accused of committing sabotage as part of an organized group (paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 281 of the Criminal Code - punishment from 12 to 20 years in prison), as well as of illegal acquisition of explosives as part of an organized group (part 4 of art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code - punishment from 10 to 15 years in prison).

He and four other people were detained on September 4 after searches in the homes of Crimean Tatars. On September 6 , it became known that the brothers Asan and Aziz Akhtemov, like Dzhelal, are suspects in the case of sabotage on the gas pipeline near Perevalnoye. Two other detainees, Shevket Useinov and Eldar Odamanov, were placed under administrative arrest for 14 and 15 days under the article on disobedience to the police (Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

In addition, Celal was registered in the detention center as a person prone to extremist and terrorist crimes.

The conditions in which he was kept for 50 days are inhuman conditions. This is a quarantine without walks and the opportunities that are in a regular cell. Despite all our arguments, Asan’s preventive measure was extended,” Akhtemov’s lawyer told the publication.

On November 12, the Supreme Court of Crimea upheld the decision to extend the arrest of Asan and Aziz Atkhemov in the criminal case. The Crimean Solidarity movement writes about this on Facebook.

Lawyer Nikolai Polozov noted that his client is still in a special block, in a cell where the heating does not work. In addition, no letters are given to him and he is kept in complete isolation.
