Actor Alec Baldwin first talked with reporters after an accident on the set of the film "Rusta", where he shot the operator Galina Khatchins and seriously wounded the director Joel Souzu. Earlier, Baldwin commented on the incident only on Twitter.
On October 30, the actor stopped the car on the sidelines in the state of Vermont and, together with his wife Hilahia, went to the paparazzi pursuing them. The video with the actor was distributed by the TMZ tabloid.
Alec Baldwin immediately warned that he was forbidden to comment on an ongoing investigation, and added that he was communicating with the police daily. After that, he answered several questions of journalists.
The actor recalled that there are accidents from time to time. “But not like that. This is a case from the category of one for a trillion, ”Baldwin emphasized. He added that he supports tightening the rules for handling weapons during filming.
Baldwin doubted that the shooting of "rust" would someday resume.
“She [Galina Hatchins] was my friend, she was my friend. On the day I arrived at Santa Fe to start shooting, I invited her to dinner with Joel, our director. We were a very, very coordinated team that made the film together. And then this terrible event happened ... I maintain contact with her husband, offering my support to him and his family.
Having answered the questions of journalists, Baldwin asked them not to pursue him anymore. “My children cry in the car,” he said. “Because you are pursuing us,” added his wife Hilahia, who shot everything that was happening on the phone. In parting, one of the paparazzi expressed his condolences to Baldwin.
